Airtel Bangladesh Limited is one of the leading mobile service providers in Bangladesh. Its previous name was 'Warid Telecom' owned by the UAE-based Abu Dhabi Group, and launched in May 10, 2007. In January 2010, Indian renowned Company named Bharti Airtel Limited, a leading telecommunications services provider in the world, bought out 70% share of 'Warid Telecom'. Meanwhile, the name 'Warid Telecom' change to 'Airtel Bangladesh'. In March 2013, Warid Telecom sold its rest of share (30%) to Bharti Airtel Holdings Singapore Pte Ltd, a concern company of Bharti Group. As a result, its whole management and other functions are controlled by this Company.
After being bought the majority share, Bharti Airtel investment 300 million US dollars, an Indian company’s largest investment in Bangladesh, to rapidly expand its mobile service operations in the Country. Airtel Bangladesh sets an aim to be “the most loved brand, enriching the lives of millions” by 2015. Since its launch, Airtel has rapidly gained exalted popularity through its innovative mobile services in Bangladesh. On 8 September 2013, Airtel Bangladesh Ltd bought 5 MHz 3G spectrum from Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) by giving 1.25 million US$.
The Products provided, but no limited, by Airtel Bangladesh are Telephony, EDGE (Enhanced Data for Global Evolution), GSM, HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access), 3G and more. In addition to these, Airtel also provides lots of outstanding packages for its Prepaid & Post-paid users. In order to provide best services, Airtel Bangladesh has been including lots of innovative advantages for its users.
