Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI) is an autonomous research organization under the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock (MoFL), Government of the Peoples' Republic of Bangladesh. Though BFRI was come into being in 1984 under an Ordinance (No XLV of 1984) promulgated by the President of the Peoples' Republic of Bangladesh; its actual functioning started in 1986. The Institute was mainly established to carry out research activities on fisheries in Bangladesh. The Headquarters of Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute is located in Mymensingh. It takes proper initiatives for planning, conduct, and coordination of fisheries research in Bangladesh.

- Freshwater Station (FS), Mymensingh
- Brackishwater Station (BS), Paikgacha, Khulna
- Riverine Station (RS), Chandpur
- Marine Fisheries and Technology Station, Cox's Bazar
- Shrimp Research Station, Bagerhat
- Riverine Sub-Station, Rangamati
- Khepupara Sub-Station, Patuakhali
- Freshwater Sub-Station, Jessore
- Floodplain Sub-Station, Santahar
- Freshwater Sub-Station, Sayedpur
