Since the set up in 1986 by Mr Abul Khair, famous Bangladeshi industrialist, entrepreneur and art enthusiast, Bengal Foundation has been a registered private trust in Dhaka, Bangladesh involved mainly in promoting and developing the country’s rich heritage of art, drama, crafts, painting, music, and literature through various approaches. The Foundation is fully funded by the Bengal Group. The Bengal Foundation is striving to spread the rich arts and cultural heritage of Bangladesh throughout the world. It is an apex platform for promoting, preserving and supporting the arts and culture of Bangladesh.
Since its formation, the Foundation has been immensely contributing in all of the following areas - fine arts, music, theatre, documentary film, publication, festival and more. It has two galleries named ‘Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts’ and ‘Bengal Art Lounge’. These two galleries have been witnessed with lots of renowned art exhibitions. It stocks over 150 CDs & albums that promote traditional Bangla musics including the songs of Rabindranath Tagore, and Kazi Nazrul. It also organizes various programs related to its arena. Since 1998, the Bengal Foundation has been giving award to the exceptional artist at the National Art Exhibition organized annually by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
