Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) is a familiar film event held in Dhaka, Bangladesh since 1992. This is one of the most reputable film festivals in Bangladesh. DIFF was come into existence by the initiative of Rainbow Film Society, a reputed organization, mainly involved for the promotion of film in the world, founded in 1991 at Whitechapel Art Gallery in East London, UK. Dhaka International Film Festival is dedicated to explore the standard of global cinema to the local film-makers and to promote healthy cine culture in Bangladesh. Since 1992, DIFF has been successfully held thirteen (13) times respectively in – 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014 – in the country.
The 14th Dhaka International Film Festival will be held from January 14 to 22, 2016. The location of this festival is Dhaka, Bangladesh. 14th DIFF’s theme is “Better Film, Better Audience, Better Society.” The entry or submission deadline for the Festival is September 30, 2015. It is expected that about 150 films will go for screen where participators will be drawn from nearly 50 countries. Festival Categories include – Competition Section (includes Fictional films from Asia and Australia), Retrospective, Cinema of the World (it is open for all feature of film categories), Children’s Film, Short and Independent Film, Women Filmmakers, and Spiritual Films Section. The international jury board will select the Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor & Actress, Best Script, and Cinematographer. Awards will be a crest and a certificate for each category.
