Bangladesh Marine Fisheries Academy (BMFA) is a Government training institute in Marine Fisheries Sector of Bangladesh. BMFA was established in the year 1973. Bangladesh Marine Fisheries Academy is situated in Chittagong, Bangladesh’s second largest city. This is the only academy of its kind in the country. The Academy is run under the administrative control of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Government of Bangladesh. Captain A T G M SARKER (TAS), psc, BN is the current Principal of BMFA.
Marine Fisheries Academy Chittagong provides standard education and training to the cadets who are eager to build their career in fishing sectors and commercial shipping lines. It offers courses related to Nautical, Marine Engineering, and Fish Processing. The Institute strives to create skillful and educated Navigators, Marine Engineers, and Fish Processing Technologists to meet the growing demand of manpower broadly for maritime fisheries industries of the world and more specially for Bangladesh. Chittagong Marine Fisheries Academy have created 1300+ cadets of whom 600+ are holding the prestigious position in different commercial shipping lines in the world.
BMFA offers mainly the following courses – BSc in Nautical, BSc in Marine Engineering, and BSc in Marine Fisheries – in affiliation with the National University of Bangladesh.
