Bangladesh Ship Breakers Association (BSBA) is a non-profit organization established in 2003 representing the business companies/firms and members/workers involved in ship recycling activities in Bangladesh. BSBA works as a safeguard to promote and preserve the rights of its members involved in ship breaking business in the country. The Association is also working to improve and ensure a safety environment for the workers. As a prime organization of the Ship Breakers in Bangladesh, it looks after all the ship breaking related issues.
As a part of welfare activities, BSBA’s members and workers are linked with ten (10) clinics for ensuring various needed treatments. The Association also builds a five-store modern hospital with 250 beds for providing free medical checkup and treatment to the workers, their families and the local community. In 2011, BASA established a training institute for providing training to the yard workers.
It has included over 147 members at its hub. The affairs of Bangladesh Ship Breakers Association are managed by an Executive Committee consists of eleven (11) members; comprising of a President, two Vice Presidents, and rest eight are members. Its current President is Mr. Md. Abu Taher.
