Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad is a Bangladeshi famous economist, environmentalist, development thinker and activist. He was born in 1943 in Sylhet district of Bangladesh. At present, Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad is the Chairman of Governing Council and Rector of Dhaka School of Economics (DScE), and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).
Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad (QK Ahmad) obtained BA (Hons) and M.A. in Economics from the University of Dhaka. Subsequently, he obtained MPhil (Econ.) and PhD (Econ.) from the London School of Economics (LSE), University of London.
Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad was the President of Bangladesh Economic Association (BEA) from 2002 to 2010. He was the Founder Chairman of the Bangladesh Unnayan Parishad (BUP) and also served as a Research Director at the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS). Q K Ahmad was the former President (1979-83) of the Association of Development Research and Training Institutes of Asia and the Pacific (ADIPA) and Vice President (1988-91) of the Society for International Development (SID).
Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad is also the Coordinator of Bangladesh Climate Change Negotiation Team, and a Member of the UNFCCC Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Executive Board. He has been a Syndicate member of BUET, and SUST.
Dr. Q K Ahmad has credit of publishing a wide range of books and research works and publications. He is author/co-author/editor/co-editor of more than 35 books and 200 articles & research reports and papers.
For his outstanding contribution in various fields, Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad received a number of awards including Ekushey Padak - 2009, Mercantile Bank Award - 2005, Bangladesh Economic Association Gold Medal Award - 2012, and is a Member of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize winning UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Team.
