The Daily Star is the most popular daily English newspaper in Bangladesh. The Newspaper is owned by Transcom Group, and commenced its publication on 14 January 1991, published daily from the Country’s Capital City Dhaka and Business City Chittagong. During its outset, Syed Mohammed Ali, a great journalist, was the founding editor of The Daily Star. Currently, its editor is Mahfuz Anam, a famous journalist, editor and publisher of Bangladesh.
The motto of The Daily Star is "Your Right to Know." Daily Star serves the nation as an authentic and nonpartisan independent newspaper. Since its commencement, the Newspaper has been working to make sure human rights for all, stop gender discrimination, press freedom, transparency and accountability in the administration and other things which are well-being for the nation. During the different national crises, the Newspaper played a vital role to find a solution to stop people’s sufferings.
There are several sections in The Daily Star, including News, Reporting, Business, Editorial, Metropolitan, Sports, National Page, Entertainment, and more. In addition, it has a number of supplements published weekly, monthly and on special or specific day.

The Newspaper is run by a Board of Directors consist of six members of which the Head of the body is called Chairman while the other members titled as Directors. Thus, Daily Star is the leading and largest circulating daily English newspaper in Bangladesh. The mission of this paper is to “Be the first to know what's happening around you from the largest and most read English daily newspaper of Bangladesh.”
