Bangladesh-American Society of Greater Houston (BASGH) is a non-profit and non-political Bangladeshi community organization in Houston, Texas. It was officially formed on December 19, 2002. The Society was formed mainly to work for the well-being of Bangladeshis living in Texas; cherish and advance the cultures of Bangladesh among the people; promote Bengali-American relations, promote and exchange Bengali culture with other groups, organizations, or institutions; and provide support & assistance to the Bangladeshi students, professional or any other group of Bangladeshis in time of needs. Besides, it is also lively working to create a bridge among the Bangladeshis living in North America. Every year the Society organizes a number of events including Ekushey February, Boishakhi Mela, Picnic, Rabindra-Nazrul Joyonti, Iftar Party, Pitha Mela, Bijoy Dibosh and more.
BASGH is run by a Board of Directors consist of fifteen (15) members elected by the direct voting of its members. At BASGH, membership is open to individuals who are committed to share the purposes of the Society and obedient to its Laws. Its current President is Mr. Imtiaz Ahmed Pavel.
