Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America (FOBANA) is a renowned North American Bangladeshi Organization. The Organization was establishment on 31 October 1987 in Washington D.C. It is a 501c(3) non-profit corporation, registered in Washington, D.C. FOBANA has been working as a combination force for bringing all Bangladeshi North American Communities/Associations/Organizations in one center. Frankly speaking, the Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America is one of the oldest and renowned Bangladeshi organizations which is beyond personal profit, (beyond) political influence, and even non-discriminatory. It has accredited as the apex Organization in North America.
The Associations organizes an annual convention, the largest congregating of Bangladeshis in North America, at a chosen place in North America. The first convention of FOBANA was held in Washington, D.C., on 31st October 1987. FOBANA’s 2014 annual convention held in Los Angeles from August 29 – 31. The 2014 FOBANA Convention hosted by Bangladesh Association of California (BAC) and FOBANA. The following/next convention for 2015 will be held in New York hosted by Bangladesh League of America. Any non-political and non-religious organization can be member of FOBANA. The Organization provides lots of benefits for its members. Currently, the Chairperson of FOBANA, elected for the session 2014-2015, is Duke Khan. It former Chairperson was Mahmud Musharraf Hussain (for the session 2013-2014).
