Bangladesh Association of Hong Kong (BAHK) was founded in October 2003 seeks to promote Bengali culture, art, language, traditions and customs in Hong Kong. BAHK offers a venue for the Bangladeshi children to learn their mother tongue, Bangla, and also opened “BAHK Weekend School” for reading and writing of basic Bengali, and Arabic. Bangladesh Association of Hong Kong is the first bridging centre in Hong Kong which seeks to promote Southeast Asian culture and work with other cultures. It offers mainly two types of memberships - Financial Member and Life Member. All the Bangladeshi nationals by birth, holding the valid Hong Kong Identity card will be eligible for membership. To become a Financial Member of BAHK one ought to contribute HK$1,000 for one year only and a Life Time Member should pay HK$10,000 at a time. Currently, the President of BAHK is M. Akhtar Hossain.
