The Bengali Association Singapore (BAS) is a non-profit socio-cultural organization in Singapore, established on 10th September 1956 to promote social, cultural, educational and recreational activities among the members and to celebrate Bengali cultural programs like Saraswati Puja, Durga Puja, Nababarsha, Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti, picnics, sports, dances, songs, dramas etc. During the inception of BAS, there was only membership of fifty families which is now lifted up about 650. The Association’s first celebrated program was “Bijoya Sammelani”. Since 1960, Bengali Association Singapore has been published a magazine named ‘Milon’. The Organization tries to create a strong platform for the Bengali people in Singapore. Bengali Association Singapore (BAS) seeks to facilitate the exchange of traditional art and culture, and parcel out the culture among the diverse community groups in Singapore.
