Bangladesh Foreign Exchange Dealers Association (BAFEDA) is an organization committed to develop an orderly and dynamic inter-bank foreign exchange market in the Country. BAFEDA was founded on 12 August 1993 in a bankers' meeting which was held in the Board Room of Rupali Bank Ltd. Bangladesh Foreign Exchange Dealers Association provides assistance and cooperation to its member banks to develop a lively foreign exchange market in the country according to the guidelines of Bangladesh Bank. The Association also provides training to it its member banks’ Personnel about Foreign Exchange Business. BAFEDA is a member of FBCCI.
During its formation, 23 banks were joined with this Association; they are known as founder members. Currently more than 54 leading banks are members of BAFEDA. Bangladesh Foreign Exchange Dealers' Association (BAFEDA) offers two types of memberships – Primary Member (open to all banks in Bangladesh who are authorized dealers and involved in dealing foreign exchange) and Associate Member (those who are approved to sale and purchase of foreign currencies in the Country and also involved in financing import and export activities). The Associate Members have no voting rights.
