The Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) was established in 1974 under the Societies Act, 1860, as the topmost Institute, for providing management training and educational program to the officials of banks and financial institutions of Bangladesh. BIBM has been highly contributing in the field of banking sector for strengthening and updating banking knowledge mainly to its members’ officers. Along with a few banks and financial institutions of Bangladesh, the Institute is directly maintained and supervised by the Bangladesh Bank.
Since 1997, BIBM has been started post graduate program in bank management. Besides the Masters in Bank Management (MBM), the Institute also offers Evening MBM or EMBM and training courses mostly for bank officials. The total duration of Evening MBM program is two year eight months consisting of eight terms, duration of each term is four months. There is a library at BIBM which contains about 24,000 books. Furthermore, the institute has linked with nearly 200 domestic and foreign journals, magazines and so on.
Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management conducts researches, workshops, seminars and roundtable discussions with regard to banking & financial matters. The mission of BIBM is to "Produce skilled man power for the financial sector of Bangladesh." The Chairman of Governing Committee at BIBM is Governor of Bangladesh Bank (the central bank of Bangladesh).
