Bangladesh Society of Anaesthesiologists (BSA) is the national prime organization of the anaesthetists in Bangladesh. BSA came into existence in 1974 by the initiative of late Prof. K.A.S.M.A. Quader and Dr. Md. Shafiqur Rasul of whom Mr. Quader was President and Mr. Shafiqur Rasul was Secretary of the organization. Late Prof. K.A.S.M.A Quader is the first post-graduate Anesthesiologist in Bangladesh.
Though Bangladesh Society of Anesthesiologists (BSA) was founded in the 1974, it begun formal journey from 31 December in 1978 through a national conference which was the first initiative of its kind in the country. It has already organized more than 27 National conferences on relevant field. Since born, Bangladesh Society of Anaesthesiologists has been contributing in the field of anesthesiology.
BSA has been a member of World Federation Of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) since 1987, and also member of South Asian Confederation of Anaesthesiologists (SACA). Since 1987, the organization publishing a journal on anesthesiology, edited by Dr. K.M.Iqbal. Every year, two issues of journal published regularly.
