Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (BADAS) is a nonprofit socio-medical service organization in Bangladesh. The Association was founded in Dhaka on 28 February 1956 by Prof. Dr Mohammed Ibrahim with a group of social workers, philanthropists, physicians and professionals. Dr Mohammed Ibrahim (1911-1989) is the first man who thought of diabetic care for the people of Bangladesh. Prof. Dr Ibrahim’s motto was "no diabetic patients should die untreated, unfed or unemployed even if she/he is poor". The former name of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh was "Ibrahim Memorial Diabetes Centre". Later on, the organization registered at its present name with the Ministry of Social Welfare of Bangladesh Government under the Society’s Registration Act, 1860. Diabetic Association of Bangladesh is run by a 32-member national council. BADAS publishes diabetes/health magazines, arranges seminars, educational programs, special day programs, awareness programs and other programs that all are related to diabetes. Moreover, it made a film named "Dui Beayier Kirti" for creating awareness about diabetes across the country. BADAS is pioneer in providing all diabetics related health care services for the Bangladeshis.
