A famous non-profit membership-based humanitarian organization, Bangladesh Lions Foundation (BLF) was established in 1974 as a model of Lions Clubs International, Oak Brook, Illinois, U.S. The Foundation was come into existence under the dynamic leadership of Lion Late M.R. Siddique, known as the Father of Lionism in Bangladesh. The members of this Foundation are known as ‘Lions’ and ‘Lioness’.
Bangladesh Lions Foundation (BLF) was registered on May 6, 1975 as a non-profit, tax-exempt and registered welfare organization under the Societies Act of XXI of 1860. BLF promotes human welfare activities through fund(s) rising from the Lions, Lioness and Philanthropists.
Bangladesh Lions Foundation’s most pride project is ‘Lions Eye Hospital’ which was subsequently upgraded to ‘Eye Institute’ in 2004. Now, it is known as “Lions Eye Institute & Hospital”. The Foundation’s some other projects include – Dental Clinic, ENT Clinic, Mother & Child Care Center, Physiotherapy Clinic, and BLF Education Fund Project.
As of November 30, 2013, Lions Foundation Bangladesh’s total members raise to 10,000 of whom 3,778 are enlisted as Life Members. The affairs of BLF are managed by a Committee consist of 45-member, headed by a Chairman. The Committee is representing all six (6) Districts under the Multiple District-315, Bangladesh. The Chairman of BLF is Ln. A.K.M. Rezaul Hoque MJF.
