Bangladesh Freedom Foundation (BFF) is an independent and non-profitable grant-making organization in Bangladesh. It was formed as a Trust under the Bangladesh Trust Act 1882 on 18 September 1997. BFF is registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau (NGOAB) of the Government of Bangladesh on 20 April 1998. Bangladesh Freedom Foundation is governed by a group of nationally renowned academics, activists, journalists, industrialists, and social entrepreneurs. The Chairperson of this foundation is Mr. Syed Manzur Elahi, Chairman of Apex Group of Industries.
Though the vision of Bangladesh Freedom Foundation was ‘Freedom from poverty, ignorance, and oppression through philanthropy’, since 2010 it has given emphasis towards ‘Promoting Science Education at Secondary Level’.
BFF provides support to the only registered organizations. The range of grant sizes of BFF between Taka 400,000 to 800,000 per annum and are usually provided for a three-year cycle with possibility for extension. Bangladesh Freedom Foundation supports any initiative or organizations that are non-political, non-religious, non-discriminatory, non-racial, and non-extremist. That is, the Foundation believes in the principles of equality, and respects all religious, cultural and ethnic groups.
