The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is a prominent humanitarian organization in Bangladesh. BDRCS was established on 31 March, 1973 by the President Order 26 of 1973. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is one of the wings of the world’s largest humanitarian aid organization, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). The Organization has been working in the Country by keeping some fundamental Principles like Humanity, Neutrality, Unity, Impartiality, Independence, Voluntary Service and Universality.
As a humanitarian organization in Bangladesh, BDRCS provides materials and logistical assistance during any natural disasters and man-made disasters. It is the soul organization in Bangladesh which always opens out its aid and rehabilitation during floods, cyclones, or any other disasters. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society has a network of trained and experienced volunteers, activists and associations; they have played a preeminent humane role in the relief, rescue and rehabilitation of hundreds of victims caused by the natural and man-made disasters in Bangladesh. Currently, BDRCS has 68 Units across the Country; each Unit is constituted in each district and in the Metropolitan cities like Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi & Khulna. Mr. Hafiz Ahmed Mazumder, an eminent social worker, educationist, former member of parliament and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pubali Bank Limited, is the current Chairman of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society.
