Category: Society & Culture
The Bangladesh Development Research Center (BDRC) is a non-profit, non-partisan, independent research organization founded in January 2007 by Dr. Bernhard G. Gunter, an Assistant Professor of the Dept. of Economics at American University in Washington, DC, aimed to undertake and promote research on various development issues related to Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh Development Research Center does not have members rather it is governed by a Board of Directors. BDRC does not take any funds from the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) or from any political party in home and abroad. Since its inception, BDRC has never paid any of its staff or researchers. Thus, BDRC is run by volunteers or unpaid staff. The Bangladesh Development Research Center is highly cost-effective in any research it undertakes. Therefore, BDRC is a think tank which conducts research on various development issues connected to Bangladesh. At present, Dr. Bernhard G. Gunter is the President of BDRC.
The BDRC also provides the World’s Largest “Bangladesh Development Bibliography” of books, journal, working papers, reports, articles, etc. that are related to the development of Bangladesh which have been published in this Millennium since 1st January 2000. As of 5th January 2013, BDRC’s “Bangladesh Development Bibliography” contained 20,153 publications.
