Category: Society & Culture
JITA Bangladesh started its journey in 2012 empowering women, chiefly rural underprivileged women, of Bangladesh through a network of social business enterprises, creating employment opportunities, and approaching access to markets for the Bottom of the Pyramid (BoP) consumers. JITA aims to empower country’s more than 11,000 poor women by 2015 and improving access to markets for 7 million underprivileged consumers. Apparently, JITA is a Joint venture between CARE International, a prominent humanitarian organization in the world fighting for global poverty, and Danone Communities, social businesses network working for reducing poverty and malnutrition. CARE International owns the greater number of shares of JITA. As a result, CARE is working as a governing body of this venture.
