JAAGO Foundation is a non-profit youth-based organization founded by Korvi Rakshand, a Bangladeshi social entrepreneur, on 14 April 2007 in order to break the chain of poverty by dint of education and build an illiteracy free Bangladesh. The foundation is a registered organization in the ‘Office of Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms’ under the Government of Bangladesh.
JAAGO Foundation started its journey from a single room, in the Rayer Bazaar slum area, rented to teach the children of that area at free-of-cost and establish education among them so that they can break down the chain of poverty. Now this free-of-cost-school in the slum area of Rayer Bazar has nearly 600 students. Since then, the foundation has aimed at to provide education, through its Online and Traditional School, to the children who cannot afford education expenditure. Currently, JAAGO Foundation has 8 schools across the country. Its first online school was opened in September 2011 in Gazipur. It has planned to open a free-of-cost ‘JAAGO School’ in every district of Bangladesh.
The foundation has an official volunteer wing names ‘Volunteer for Bangladesh’ founded in May 2011. The Vision of JAAGO Foundation is “to build an illiteracy free Bangladesh with access to quality education for all”.
