Bangladesh Scouts is the national prime Scouting organization of Bangladesh. The scout movement mainly started in Bangladesh on 22 May 1948 under the establishment of East Pakistan Boy Scout Samity (Association). After the independence of Bangladesh, the then Honorable President gave lawful coverage to the “Bangladesh Boy Scout Samity” by enacting President's Order No. 111 of 1972. In 1974, World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) gave recognition to the Bangladesh Boy Scout Samity as its 105th member. In 1978 the Organization converted into “Bangladesh Scouts.” Since 1994, girls are accepted to be member(s) of this organization.
The members of Bangladesh Scouts are involved in community service & community development including agriculture, healthcare, sanitation, sports, child welfare, construction etc. Moreover, during any national disasters the Scouts are called to assist in it. At Bangladesh Scouts membership is open for the youths from any class & creed who are between 6 and 25 years of age. The Organization always receives strong support from Bangladesh Government. It persists in to build up young people as honest, faithful and responsible citizens for the social, national and international communities. The Scout Motto is “Do our best to be prepared for service.” The Chief Scout of Bangladesh Scouts is the Honorable President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
