Bangladesh Work Camps Association (BWCA) is a non-governmental, non-political, non-profit voluntary youth organization in Bangladesh. It was founded by late Lt. Abdul Gafur in 1958 and registered with the Social Welfare Department (Registration No. 215), Government of Bangladesh (GoB).
BWCA is involved in various youth development and social welfare related activities. It conducts various projects, workshops, and programs to involve the young generation of Bangladesh in different social welfare, community and organizational development, rural development, health care, environmental conservation etc related activities. Moreover, it also helps communities, NGOs…“to help them learning how to cope with natural hazards by conducting local, national and international work camps.” Besides, the Organization campaigns against smoking, drug, and environmental degradation. It involves in planting trees for afforestation and reforestation.
Every year during October to March, Bangladesh Work Camps Association conducts short-term workcamps with duration of 10-15 days, and a three-month long Round The Year Program (RTYP) in rural and urban area as well. These workcamps are open to every volunteer “on the principle of trusteeship.” BWCA works and maintain close relation with various similar international organizations.
