Bangladesh Merchant Bankers Association (BMBA) is an organization of the Merchant Bankers, started its journey in 1997. BMBA was created under the companies’ Act 1994. It registered with the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms (RJSC), Government of Bangladesh, on November 9, 2004. BMBA’s members stand now at 51. The Merchant bankers have been worked with the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) in formulating issue management rules, underwriting rules and the right share issue rules. The Association is persistently working to have a stable stock market.
BMBA is a common platform of the merchant bankers operating in the country. Bangladesh Merchant Bankers Association is a member of the Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FBCCI). The Association is run by an Executive Committee consists of 11 members, headed by a President. At present, the President of BMBA is Mr. Tanjil Chowdhury.
