Bangladesh Society of Critical Care Medicine (BSCCM) was formally established on 5th December 2009 as a non-profit and non-partisan organization of the professionals who are involved in the profession (and/or practicing) of critical care medicine in Bangladesh. BSCCM is the prime organization of its kind in the country. The organization was founded by a number of renowned physicians working in the intensive care units (ICUs) of different hospitals/health care institutes in Bangladesh.
The Society of Critical Care Medicine of Bangladesh is a member of Asia-Pacific Association of Critical Care Medicine (APACCM), World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine (WFSICCM), and Association of SAARC Critical Care Societies (ASAARCCS). Prof. Mohammad Omar Faruq is the President of the organization. As an association of the Critical Care Medicine Specialists, it looks after issues related to it, and also involved in education, research, seminar and professional development of relevant field. It has affiliation with different relevant organizations from Home and abroad, including Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) of USA.
BSCCM offers membership of following categories - General Member (has voting power), Life Member (has voting power), and Associate Member (no voting power). As of June 21, 2014, the organization has total 434 members (Life Member: 61, General Member: 194, and Associate Member: 179).
