The Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS) is a non-profit and independent organization which was established on 16 May 2002 as a Public Trust under the Ministry of Water Resources, Government of Bangladesh (GOB). The organization was founded with a view to providing advisory services, conducting research and development activities, working with natural resources management, disaster and risk management, livelihood security, contributing for sustainable socio-economic development, working for capacity building and other socio-economic development and environmental analysis related issues.
The organization was established after the completion of 'Environmental and Geographic Information System Support Project for Water Sector Planning (EGIS)' project in 2002. CEGIS has multidisciplinary professionals and skilled groups of scientific, technical and socio-economic experts. The Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services has collaboration with different national, international, and regional government and non-governmental organizations and agencies. Mr. Malik Fida A Khan is the Executive Director (In Charge) of CEGIS who is also a Member of National River Conservation Commission.
