Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) was officially inaugurated on 8th June 2004 in Dhaka as a proactive, non-government body promoting the trade & business between Japan and Bangladesh. JBCCI promotes socio-economic relationships, and trade & investment between Bangladesh and Japan. In addition, the Chamber’s friendly relationships contribute in the field of culture, education, infrastructure, human resource development, capacity building and many more areas. To boost it relationships and activities, JBCCI regularly organizes fair, seminar, symposium etc.
At present, the affairs of JBCCI are managed by a Board of Directors consists of 12 (twelve) members – a President, two (2) Vice Presidents, Secretary General, Treasurer, and seven (7) Directors. Out of the 12 (twelve) members of the Board of Directors, six (6) are drawn from Japan and six (6) are from Bangladesh. They all are members and/or representatives of JBCCI. The President of Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) is Mr. Kei Kawano, and Vice Presidents are – Mr. Salahuddin Kasem Khan, and Mr. Tomohiro Tamura.
The Chamber offers two types of memberships – General and Honorary. The General Members are the company/firm/organization/institution which is involved in business or other activities, in these two countries, by taking required approbation from the government(s). The Honorary Members are the distinguished and reputed person, chosen by the Board of Directors of JBCCI.
