Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit voluntary organization founded in February, 1978 aimed to protect and promote the rights and interests of consumers in the Country. CAB was registered with the Department of Social Services, Government of Bangladesh, on 14 March 1983 (reg. No DHA-01247), and with the NGO Affairs Bureau (NGOAB) on 2 March 1986 (reg. No. DSS/FDO/R-197). The Organization plays a very crucial role to stop commodity adulteration and artificial price-hike. Consumers Association of Bangladesh is a vibrant member of Consumers International, an organization of Global Voice for Consumers.
As a national prime consumers association, CAB promotes consumer education; creates awareness among the consumers to establish and protect their rights and interests; arranges safer and consumer friendly market by testing of products and commodities; creates bridge with various associations, institutions, groups, NGOs and Govt. departments and services for further promotion of consumers’ welfare in the country; undertakes research and studies on different issues and problems related to general consumers and more.
