Islampur Cloth Merchant Association (ICMA) is an organization of the cloth traders of Islampur Bazaar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Islampur Clothes Market is the biggest clothes market of Bangladesh. The Islampur Bazaar is situated on the bank of Buriganga River in old Dhaka. This is the most reputed and traditional wholesale clothes market in Bangladesh.
ICMA was established on January 25, 1969 as ‘Pakistan Cloth Merchant Association’ with a view to promoting and protecting the Islampur cloth market. After emergence of Bangladesh, it renamed ‘Bangladesh Cloth Merchant Association’. Finally in 1973, the association changed its name to “Islampur Cloth Merchant Association” which is still prevailing.
Islampur Cloth Merchant Association (ICMA) is working to protect, promote and preserve the Islampur Cloth Market. It is also working for the well-being of its traders. ICMA is run by an executive committee according to the association’s constitution. The members of the executive committee elected for two-year by direct voting of the businessmen of Islampur Cloth Market. The association is a member of BGMEA, BKMEA, FBCCI, and DCCI.
