National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh (NHFB) is the prime organization which is solemnly working for prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases in the country. The Foundation was founded by National Professor Brig. (Rtd) Abdul Malik, a Bangladeshi notable cardiologist and Former Advisor, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare & Religious Affairs, Government of Bangladesh. The Foundation was formed in 1978. National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh established hospital and research institute in the name of National Heart Foundation Hospital & Research Institute located in Mirpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Heart Foundation of Bangladesh (NHFB) is a non-government and not-for-profit organization. It has affiliation with World Heart Federation (WHF), World Hypertension League (WHL), and International Society of Hypertension. Moreover, NHFB has affiliation with forty-one bodies across the country.
National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh (NHFB) is promoting with support from Bangladesh and Government and different bodies from home and abroad. Today, the National Heart Foundation Hospital is a 450-bedded cardiac hospital in Bangladesh which is providing all types of cardiac treatment including Open Heart Surgery, and Coronary Bypass Surgery. It also provides training and courses on the respective field; and undertakes research works on cardiovascular diseases.
