Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS) was established in 1986 as a non-profit and non-government research, implementation and policy institute in Bangladesh. It is working with the issues of Resource Management, Environment and Development (RMED). BCAS promotes its activities through policy analysis, research activity and project implementation focusing on Sustainable Development (SD) issues that are related to local, national, regional and global levels. This is one of the leading non-government research organizations not only in Bangladesh but also in South Asia.
Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS) addresses sustainable development through following four interdisciplinary themes – (1) Environment-development integration, (2) Good governance and people’s participation, (3) Poverty alleviation and sustainable livelihoods, (4) Economic growth and public-private partnership.
The Institute has linked with many international development partners such as World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), UNDP, USAID, CARE – International, FAO, WWF International etc with whom BCAS promotes its development programs and projects. The Centre has more than one hundred full-time and part-time personnel consist of senior & junior professionals, scientists and researchers. Its Head-quarter is situated in Dhaka. BCAS has four field offices in Rajshahi, Khulna, Jessore and Faridpur. Dr. Saleemul Huq is the current Chairman, and Dr. A Atiq Rahman is the Executive Director of Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS).
