Established on 26 December 1980, Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA) is one of the government agencies working to attract and manage Foreign Direct Investment in the Export Processing Zones (EPZs) in Bangladesh. BEPZA is governed by the ministry of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). The Government of Bangladesh established the Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA) to create, develop, operate, manage and control the EPZs in Bangladesh. One of the key objects of BEPZA is to manage various export processing zones or special areas in Bangladesh.
At current, there are 8 EPZs in Bangladesh. These are Follows:
* Adamjee Export Processing Zone
Location: Narayanganj, Start its function: From 2006
* Chittagong Export Processing Zone (1st EPZ in Bangladesh)
Location: South Halishaha, Chittagong, Start its function: From 1983
* Comilla Export Processing Zone
Location: Biman Bondor, Comilla, Start its function: From 2000
* Dhaka Export Processing Zone
Location: Savar, Dhaka, Start its function: From 1993
* Ishwardi Export Processing Zone
Location: Ishwardi, Pabna, Start its function: From 1998
* Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone
Location: Patenga, Chittagong, Start its function: From 2006
* Mongla Export Processing Zone
Location: Mongla, Bagerhat, Start its function: From 1998
* Uttara Export Processing Zone
Location: Nilphamari, Start its function: From 1999
All these Export Processing Zones (EPZs) are run by the BEPZA.
