Bangladesh Textile Mills Corporation (BTMC) is an organization of textile factories involved in fulfilling the domestic demand of yarn. BTMC was established on 26 March 1972 with the promulgation of the Bangladesh Industrial Enterprises (Nationalization) Order, 1972 (President's Order No.27 of 1972) and formally started its function from July 1972. Currently, 18 Textile Mills are in operation under BTMC. Out of them 6 mills are producing different types of cotton yarn and polyester yarn under service charge system, 10 mills are under process in operation, and only 2 mills are in process of setting up ‘Textile Palli’. Frankly speaking, among the 18 mills Valika Woolen Mills Ltd, situated at Nasirabad in Chittagong, is the only specialized mills under BTMC. Valika Woolen Mills is producing knitting wool, woolen suiting, Gents & Ladies woolen Shawl & woolen blanket. The buyers of this mill are Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Government, Semi-Govt. & Autonomous bodies of the country.
