Bangladesh Merchant Marine Officers' Association (BMMOA) was born in 1982 by the initiative of a wholehearted group of Bangladeshi merchant navy officers and engineers. BMMOA is an organization of maritime community. The organization has Trade Union Registration Number B-1834. Since 2015, BMMOA has affiliation with the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF), affiliation number BAN 014. It protects and upkeeps the rights of sea farers community in the country.
BMMOA is the Government registered non-profit voluntary organization of seafaring officers in Bangladesh. It is an open platform of mariners' community of Bangladesh including marine officers, engineers, cadets etc. Bangladesh Merchant Marine Officers' Association (BMMOA) offers membership in following categories - Management Officers, Operation Officers, Junior Officers, and Trainee/Cadet Membership. The organization is run by an Executive Committee headed by a President. Currently, BMMOA's President is Capt Md. Anam Chowdhury.
