The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) is the prime organization of accounting professionals in Bangladesh; established in 1972 under the Bangladesh Chartered Accountants Order of 1973. ICAB is the regulator of accountants and auditors in Bangladesh. The organization's enlisted members hold the title - FCA (Fellow Chartered Accountants), and ACA (Associate Chartered Accountants). As the apex body of Chartered Accountants in Bangladesh, ICAB promoting accounting practice and profession; providing training & workshop; conducting professional examinations; observing accounting and auditing related issues; and working as representative body from Bangladesh to international arena to looks after its related issues and things. At present, Mr. Muhammad Farooq FCA is the President of ICAB.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) has affiliation with the Ministry of Commerce, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), The Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and The South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA). The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh has regional offices in Dhaka and Chittagong; and has Overseas Chapters in UK, North America, and Asia Pacific (ASPAC). As on July 01, 2017, ICAB has total 1544 members of whom Fellow members are 1035 and Associate members are 509; the members are gradually increasing.
