Retired Armed Forces Officers' Welfare Association, Bangladesh (RAOWA) is a totally non-political welfare organization established chiefly for the prosperity of Retired Armed Forces Officers. The Organization was established in 1982, and mainly known as ‘RAOWA’. The name ‘RAOWA’ was offered by Maj AKM Akhteruzzaman. The First Chairman of this Association was Lt Gen Khwaza Wasiuddin.
RAOWA was founded with a view to creating a common platform for the Retired Armed Forces Officers having same interest & purpose. It plays a very significant role to find out effective solutions for its members’ (individual and collective) problems. Moreover, RAOWA also provides services to the cause of the nation and the community as a whole.
The Association organizes program on the significant days such as Victory Day (16th Dec), Independence & National Day (26th March), Shaheed Dibosh & International Mother Language Day (21st Feb) etc. Moreover, to strength comradeship among the members RAOWA also arranges some events such as Annual picnic, Eid Reunion, New Year Celebration, Annual Milad & Iftar Party, Pahela Baishakh program, Valentine’s Day – Couples Night program etc.
RAOWA has different types of memberships - Founder Member, Ordinary member, Associate Member, Life Member, Honorary Member, Absentee Member, and Special Member. Its current Chairman is Major M Taneem Hasan.
