The Small & Medium Enterprise Foundation (SME Foundation) of Bangladesh is a non-profit organization focusing on SME development in the country. It is the apex organization for Small & Medium Enterprise (SME) growth in Bangladesh. The Foundation is run under the Ministry of Industries, Government of Bangladesh (GoB). The SME Foundation is registered under the Companies Act (Act XXVIII) of 1994. It envisions to build a poverty free Bangladesh through SMEs; also creates employment and promotes economic growth.
The Small & Medium Enterprise Foundation (SMEF) provides diversified support, training and skill development programs. It also contributes in policy making for SME; creates database on SMEs and SME sectors; creates linkage with national and international institutions relevant to it; develops strength of public and private sector SME service providers; enhances productivity; conducts research; etc. The SME Foundation of Bangladesh has a General Body consists of 53 members contributing for overall smooth functioning of the Foundation; and has a Board of Directors consists of 16 members. Currently, the Chairperson, recruited by the Govt., of the Foundation is K M Habib Ullah.
